Johnny is the one who shows up. He was a college athlete until knee injuries ended that, and he put the same appetite for hard physical work into hauling.

Out of the garage, down from the second floor, out from behind the screen cage. Nothing has to reach the curb first, and we sweep up after.

Garage, cleared to the slab
The pile had reached the door and was spilling onto the driveway. Everything in front of the slab went; what you can see at the back is what stayed.
Sofa out the front door
A sofa on its end and a sheet of plywood, wedged across the entry. Both went out through the door they were blocking.
Living room emptied
Sofa, dining table and four chairs, carried out through the same doorway you can see at the bottom of both frames. The armchair stayed.
Some of it gets donated
When something still works, it goes to a donation center instead of the dump. This load was a wheelchair, two walkers and a dining set.
